WSP is hiring for a Lead Civil Engineer based out of our Kennesaw, GA office. The chosen candidate will provide high‑level technical assistance and guidance for multi‑site/phase due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, improvement, and construction of infrastructure projects and systems in the public and private sector. The role focuses on site civil and land development projects and requires leadership in project delivery, staff development, and operational management.

- Directly manage, mentor, and coach engineers of all levels, supporting career planning, performance feedback, and annual reviews.
- Handle administrative tasks such as timesheet and expense review, organizational metrics, and reporting.
- Collect, compile, and analyze data from physical sites, surveys, blueprints, GIS, hydrologic and geotechnical information to inform design and construction.
- Apply civil engineering techniques across all project phases—concept, preliminary, final design, procurement, construction, and operation—to identify improvements.
- Conduct research, inspections, and analyses of site conditions to ensure compliance with applicable rules and standards.
- Develop construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, safety and phasing plans, and coordinate with owners, other disciplines, sub‑consultants, and clients.
- Lead projects from inception to completion, including grading, drainage, pavement design, building materials selection, and safety planning.
- Integrate advanced technologies, monitoring devices, modeling techniques, and design standards to deliver future‑ready solutions.
- Oversee cross‑functional teams, managing budgets, hours, expenses, technical calculations, permits, and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate, review, and approve infrastructure design plans to ensure data integrity and code compliance.
- Prepare visualizations—tables, charts, reports, sketches, cross‑sections—to communicate complex data and findings.
- Compile comprehensive technical reports and presentations explaining research, concepts, and recommendations.
- Evaluate field data and develop action plans for risk mitigation.
- Implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
- Interact professionally with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients.
- Collaborate on federal, state, regional, and local projects and business development opportunities.
- Maintain current knowledge of civil engineering techniques and practices.
- Exercise responsible decision‑making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Professional Engineer’s license.
- 7 to 10 years of post‑education experience in engineering and civil design.
- Proficient with civil engineering principles, practices, design/build, and permitting.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing engineering teams in a professional services environment.
- Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management, including rehabilitation, new design, and construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record‑keeping requirements.
- Ability to perform technical calculations and interpret plans, specifications, and regulations.
- Experience conducting inspections and investigations across various construction and design aspects.
- Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills with both engineering and non‑engineering audiences.
- High self‑leadership, attention to detail, multi‑tasking, and prioritization in dynamic environments.
- Independent work with minimal oversight, providing guidance and leadership to junior team members while maintaining QA/QC standards.
- Proficiency in technical writing, office automation, design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS), and tools.
- Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to apply technical knowledge to data analysis and solution design.
- Effectiveness at directing subcontractors and others to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
