Overview

ENERCON's Data Center Mission Critical Group is seeking a 3D Structural Designer to join the team based in one of our various office locations across the U.S. Join our dynamic engineering team as an experienced designer/drafter and elevate your career by creating and refining detailed drawings, conducting site walkdowns, and collaborating closely with engineers. You'll utilize advanced tools, adhere to strict quality and safety standards, and mentor junior team members, all while working on diverse and exciting projects.

Responsibilities

As a Structural Designer, your day is a dynamic blend of creative problem-solving and technical precision, where you bring designs to life. Collaborating with engineers and mentoring junior team members, you ensure every project runs smoothly, from detailed drafting to site walkdowns, all while maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

  • Design & Drafting: Create and/or modify detailed engineering drawings using Plant 3D. Prepare design drawings, including layout and detail drawings, piping isometrics, single line drawings, P&, and pipe/conduit support drawings. Detail physical design of piping and conduit supports based on schematics and typical details; any steel detailing experience is desired. Can perform internal reviews and clash detection of designs using Advance Steel.

    Can create and modify REVIT families and incorporate them into design. Understand AutoCAD national standards
  • Site Work & Reporting: Perform walkdowns at client sites and generate walkdown reports
  • Quality Control & Review: Conduct self-checks of created drawings, sketches, and related data to proactively identify factors that may negatively affect the final product. Review the work of other designers/drafters and provide mentoring and leadership. Display high attention to detail; can perform peer checks for other designers
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work directly with Engineering and other designers for design concept interpretation. Ability to communicate internally with engineers and designers and is very organized
  • Compliance & Efficiency: Understand and follow all organizational, area/departmental, and client procedures, safety policies, and directives. Meet applied time goals set for position/discipline #KM-L1
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field with a minimum of 1 year of design engineering experience
    • OR Associates Degree in related field with minimum 6 years of design engineering experience
    • OR minimum of 8 years of experience
  • Proficient with both 2D and 3D design software
  • Required Software/Platform

    Experience:

    REVIT, AutoCAD, NAVISWORKS, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC/BIM 360), and Dynamo
  • Preferred Software

    Experience:

    Tekla, Advance Steel, Inventor
  • Experience with structural concrete and steel modeling
  • Experience in the creation and maintenance of Revit families
  • Experience producing structural construction documents and design deliverables
  • Experience with clash detection, model review, and coordination workflows
  • BIM coordination experience in multidisciplinary project environments
  • Knowledge of IFC/openBIM workflows and industry BIM standards
  • Experience collaborating with structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and other project disciplines in a BIM environment
  • Working knowledge of basic engineering techniques, principals, standards, and concepts for assigned engineering discipline; competent in the basic concepts of other disciplines as they relate to the assigned discipline
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
