Yamaha is seeking to fill a Government Relations Specialist III for our facility in Kennesaw, GA
. The Government Relations Specialist III will lead the company’s efforts to support the growth and responsible regulation for Yamaha’s product line up (golf car, low-speed vehicles (LSVs), Motorsports). This role will focus on monitoring and influencing legislation, regulations, safety standards, infrastructure policies, and zoning and land-use requirements that affect the operation and accessibility of Yamaha products.

The Specialist will serve as a key liaison between the company and government stakeholders, building and maintaining relationships with state, and regulatory officials. The role will also support industry-wide initiatives by collaborating with trade associations, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders to advance practical safety standards and regulatory frameworks for the emerging sectors.

What you’ll be doing:

Government Relations & Advocacy

  • Monitor and analyze federal, state, and local legislation, regulations, and policy initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with elected officials, government agencies, regulatory authorities, and key stakeholders.
  • Support advocacy strategies that promote the responsible growth of Yamaha products.
  • Coordinate grassroots advocacy efforts in partnership with the Corporate Communications team.
  • Prepare policy briefs, position statements, testimony, and other advocacy materials.

Regulatory Affairs

  • Track regulatory developments related to vehicle safety, accessibility, infrastructure, zoning, and land-use policies.
  • Assess potential business impacts of proposed legislation and regulations and provide recommendations to leadership.
  • Collaborate with internal business units to ensure awareness of and compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Support industry efforts to establish appropriate standards and best practices for all product lines.

What you need to be successful:

  • B.A. or B.S. Degree in Political Science, Economics or History.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working with a state or federal agency, legislative committee, elected official, or government affairs organization.
  • Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, and advocacy processes.
  • Experience tracking, analyzing, and influencing public policy and regulatory developments.
  • Strong public speaking, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other business applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to monitor, interpret, and communicate the impact of legislative and regulatory activity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in transportation, mobility, outdoor recreation, automotive, or related industries.
  • Experience working with industry associations, coalitions, or grassroots advocacy initiatives.
