Job SummaryResponsible for executing HR strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the university through talent management, performance management, succession planning, change management, training and development, and HR technology. Works in partnership with Operations, HR Centers of Excellence, and Academic Affairs to provide a high level of service to assigned customers. Coordinates and champions implementation of services, policies, and will advise university leaders about HR issues.
Provides guidance and leadership to create an employee‑oriented, high‑performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity, and standards.
- Partner with business unit leadership to identify, develop and promote programs that meet strategic business objectives.
- Act as a business advisor to unit directors on key organizational and management issues, including employee relations.
- Implement programs that effectively communicate and support the university’s vision and mission.
- Support organizational effectiveness through proper alignment of people, processes, structure and culture with business strategies.
- Use project‑management methodologies to drive projects to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and with high quality. Establish project objectives, timelines, resource needs, and deliverables, and communicate status to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with university and USG policies, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with TAM to address talent acquisition practices, prioritize open requisitions, troubleshoot difficult openings, and apply performance‑based recruitment tools.
- Assess talent within assigned units, identify gaps, and develop a succession plan that aligns with university strategy.
- Enable high‑performing teams through application of performance‑management tools.
- Develop comprehensive strategic retention plans with unit leadership to meet human‑capital needs.
- Use HR technology to provide metrics, measurement tools, and analysis to aid senior leadership in strategic decision‑making.
- Identify training needs for business units and individual directors, and work with Learning and Development to deliver appropriate solutions.
Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Experience: Five (5) years of progressively responsible, strategic HR experience.
Preferred QualificationsPreferred Educational
Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- PHR or SPHR certification.
- Background in organizational leadership, management, and change management.
- Experience in higher‑education settings.
- Strategic implementation of sophisticated HR programs and initiatives.
- Experience building consensus around HR strategy and tactics with senior leadership.

Abilities & SkillsKnowledge: Strong working knowledge of local, state, and federal employment law; familiarity with labor legislation.
Skills: Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem‑solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills. Strong decision‑making and team‑management skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and People Soft. Strong attention to detail, customer service, phone and e‑mail etiquette.
