Job Summary

The Payroll Processor handles all payroll functions and timely payroll processing as well as benefits and HR‑related tasks. The position requires meticulous attention to detail and compliance with payroll and benefits regulations. Flexibility is also a key requirement
because while there are some salary and some commission‑only employees, most employees are hourly and work out in the field. As such, one must be able to handle all the variations in employee‑related communications as well as any other manifestations involved with such a wide field of payroll types.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Process payroll accurately and on‑time using payroll software (e.g., Frank Crum). These activities include verifying employee hours (via punch locations, service log reviews, engaging with employees and/or their manager(s) as well as utilizing other internal resources), plus enter/process deductions and keep on top of all benefits‑related items.
  • The payroll company we utilize is able to guide, support and/or assist with deeper‑related HR tasks. The remaining HR‑related tasks are a part of this position's duties such as: onboarding, (e.g., setting up new hires, processing I‑9s, etc), termination processes and more.
  • Maintain QB journal entries related to payroll activities.
  • Fully handle some and assist with other tax document preparation and ensure compliance with federal and state payroll tax regulations, as necessary.
  • Interact with the CTO (and any other necessary team member) regarding adding or removing employee access to various company resources during on‑boarding, job/role changes or termination.
  • Maintain organized and confidential payroll records for audits and reporting.
  • Update employee status changes (e.g., pay, benefits) and file personnel change forms.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as data entry, scanning and filing.
  • Respond to employee inquiries in a timely manner.
  • While payroll, benefits and HR items are the priority, the person hired for this role will also handle some company administrative tasks as necessary and as assigned by upper‑level management.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. For example, part of these skills must include the ability to clearly listen and display a balanced level of patience with fellow employees.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • High level of reliability and ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial and employee data.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite of applications, especially Excel.
  • Comfortable with payroll software (e.g., Frank Crum or comparable).
  • Quickbooks knowledge/experience is required.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles, payroll regulations, and HR administrative processes.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field preferred.
  • At least three years of experience in payroll processing required.
  • Experience with Jobnimbus or Frankcrum (or similar software), or HRIS systems preferred.
  • Again knowledge of and experience with Quickbooks is required.
  • Certified Accounts Payable Professional (CAPP) or PHR certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
