This role will manage global supply continuity risk mitigation and cost‑saving initiatives through stakeholder collaboration. Responsibilities include conducting competitive sourcing events, executing supply agreements, leading contract negotiations, and developing strategic sourcing strategies. The candidate will work with Supplier Quality and Sustaining Engineering to conduct on‑site supplier audits, supplier business reviews, resolution of non‑conformance, and pursue supplier remuneration for financial damages due to supplier negligence.
Responsibilities- Manage direct/indirect teams and assigned supplier spend.
- Conduct a Supply Base Risk Assessment; use the results to establish and execute a strategic sourcing plan that mitigates supply continuity risk, ensures high‑quality materials/services, and manages cost structure.
- The following sourcing classifications will engage with the listed departments for idea generation and project execution.
- Sustaining Products:
Operations teams including Production, Sustaining Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Quality Engineering. - R&D/NPD: R&D/NPD teams for sourcing requirements for new and next‑generation development.
- Indirect: IT, Sales/Marketing, Facilities, Sustaining Engineering, Travel.
- Lead and identify dual sourcing and cost‑down projects; coordinate with the project team, facilitate execution, and collaborate with stakeholders such as Sustaining Engineering, Production, Supplier Quality, and material/service suppliers.
- Drive cost‑reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing, negotiation, and process improvements.
- Conduct competitive sourcing events to achieve an annual 5% cost‑down goal and specified annual cost avoidance goal.
- Negotiate and execute supply agreements.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks within the supply chain, including supplier‑related risks.
- Work with Supplier Quality and Sustaining Engineering on NC/SCAR resolution.
- Negotiate remuneration for financial damages resulting from supplier negligence.
- Respond to supplier price‑increase notifications; negotiate to mitigate negative cost impact.
- Maintain SAP master files as needed, including vendor master, information records, and material master.
- BA in Business or BS in Material Science or Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of purchasing experience; 6 years of direct/indirect strategic sourcing experience in medical device manufacturing and SAP experience preferred. CPSM certification a plus.
