Overview
The Maintenance Support Technician Helper is responsible for supporting facilities operations and assisting with repairing any problems when they are discovered before they have a chance to worsen. The Maintenance Support Technician Helper will usually be required to perform a wide range of repair tasks around the facilities; however, this position's main role is to support GGC’s additional maintenance staff with the knowledge base of GGC’s facilities and training maintenance staff in the operations of the facilities.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Inspect buildings, equipment, and systems to identify any issues or concerns
- Support in the repair of faulty equipment units and damaged structures as needed
- Conduct periodic quality checks on equipment and systems to ensure everything is up to standard
- Support the routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage, for example, window, door, and wall repairs
- Support the repair of potential safety hazards to avoid injuries
- Support the maintenance staff in painting the building when old paint has become faded or chipped
- Support the performing a variety of routine maintenance and cleaning tasks
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
- Consistently adheres to SDS (Safety Data Sheet) information related to the proper and safe use of chemicals in the workplace.
Experience
Minimum of two years of experience preferred but not required. Must be 19 years of age.
Education
High School graduate and Trade School Education preferred
Physical RequirementsFor this support function, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee will not be required to lift and/or move materials and should limit lifting of items to no more than 70 lbs. Vision - must be able to see with or without corrective lenses.
AvailabilityAbility to work an open schedule, including evenings, holidays, and weekends as necessary to meet the needs of GGC. Regular attendance is an essential function of the job; however, this position is not full time and work can be provided on an as needed basis with limited time on duty. This position is also limited to approved operations times and when other maintenance staff personnel are on duty.
This position will not be required, nor should they be on property by themselves. If after hours support is required, phone support to maintenance staff is preferred.
