Compensation: $19-22/hour based on experience + $0.50 shift differential. FLSA Non-Exempt
Schedule: B-Shift 2:45 PM - 11:15 PM Sunday-Thursday(+Friday and/or Saturday during Peak season). Current temporary blended schedule for B shift is 12:00 PM - 8:30 PM until Peak season starts.
SummaryRPI Print, a global leader in print-on-demand solutions, is seeking a skilled PUR Perfect Bindery Machine Operator to run our state-of-the-art Müller Martini Vareo Pro & Infinitrim system or our Horizon BQ‑500 Perfect Binder
. As the final checkpoint for book quality, you will ensure precise PUR adhesive application, variable-thickness binding accuracy, and consistent production throughput.
This role requires a blend of mechanical aptitude, digital interface navigation, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. The operator will also perform routine maintenance essential to keeping high‑precision equipment running at peak performance.

Key Responsibilities- Machine Operation: Set up and operate the Müller Martini Vareo Pro & Infinitrim or Horizon BQ‑500 Perfect Binder for high‑variability, on‑demand book runs. Adjust machine settings for variable book thicknesses and trim sizes, and meet daily production targets while minimizing downtime.
- PUR Adhesive Management: Perform essential daily maintenance of the moisture‑sensitive PUR system, including purging the application head, wiping nozzles while warm, and managing adhesive levels to prevent curing.
- Mechanical Maintenance: Execute routine calibrations and minor repairs; perform "dirty" maintenance (glue pot cleaning) and collaborate with the maintenance team for major service needs.
- Quality Control: Continuously monitor output to ensure spine squareness, glue penetration, and variable trim dimensions meet RPI's excellence standards.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols regarding heat and chemical handling, ensuring a clean and safe work environment.
- Leadership: Train junior operators and assist in other bindery departments as production needs shift.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in a fast‑paced manufacturing operator role, preferably in print finishing.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Strong ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform maintenance tasks
- Digital Literacy: Strong ability to navigate software‑driven machine interfaces and interpret digital job tickets.

, or C.P. Bourg binders is highly preferred. - Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours and mandatory overtime/weekends during peak seasonal volumes.
