** This Opportunity*
* WSP is currently initiating a search for an  
** Early Career Environmental Scientist
** to work out of our  
** Kennesaw, GA
** office. 

In this role you will be part of the Site Assessment and Remediation business unit, supporting environmental projects that involve field studies, report preparation, budget management, and interaction with coworkers, clients, subcontractors, and regulators. Projects will include groundwater, surface water, soil, and air sampling; environmental site assessments; regulatory permitting; subsurface site characterizations involving drilling, soil classification, and bedrock mapping; and hazardous waste site characterization and remediation.

** Your Impact*
* + Support a wide range of environmental and engineering projects, from conceptual site model development to design and implementation of remediation and risk management strategies.

+ Conduct field exercises including drilling, geologic logging, well installation, sampling of various media, and hydrogeologic testing.

+ Undertake project-based travel and site work, both within the United States and internationally.

The frequency and duration of project-based travel will depend on business and client needs.

+ Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements.

+ Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebook.

+ Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, reports, models, cross-sections, boring logs, and figures for the interpretation and/or presentation of data, findings, and/or analyses.

+ Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, the maintenance of sample collection, location data, laboratory documentation, and logbooks.

+ Utilize the latest technologies and techniques in sample collection and field analysis and analysis of organic and inorganic compounds.

+ Complete training necessary to carry out work.

+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

** Who You Are*
* ** Required Qualifications*
* + Bachelor's Degree Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related discipline.

+ 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.

+ On track to obtain professional licensure (GIT and/or PG).

+ Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

+ Willingness to travel for field work as dictated by project demands, which could be as much as 75% of the time and to periodically adjust personal schedules to meet project needs.

+ Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain field testing and monitoring equipment with support and training from senior staff.

+ Safely operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the company.

+ Comfortable working in a variety of work settings (e.g., remote and urban areas), temperatures, and weather conditions with ability to lift 50 lbs. of field equipment.

+ Willingness to perform a variety of tasks as needed to complete an assignment and satisfy project needs.

+ Demonstrated time management and organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

+ Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, and ability to express ideas effectively and professionally to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.

+ Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

+ Strong work ethic to ensure job requirements are completed (safety first).

+ Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.

+ Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, general office software (i.e., MS Word and Excel, and PowerPoint), spreadsheets, technology, and tools.

+ Ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

+ Possess a valid driver's license and be capable of driving work vehicles (i.e., vans and trucks).

+ Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.

+ The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.

+ Must be able to pass a HAZWOPER physical and be medically able to wear a tight-fitting respirator / Fit for Duty Exam / Medical Exam.

+ This role is subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of this policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.
