Field Service Technician – Sheetfed

The Field Service Technician – Sheetfed is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and training customers on Heidelberg sheetfed equipment. The role requires a solid understanding of control systems, components, and maintenance processes. Technicians collaborate with installation teams, riggers, and the technical helpdesk to ensure tasks are completed effectively.

Responsibilities
  • Install new or used sheetfed equipment as per sales and service orders.
  • Conduct maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of sheetfed equipment under warranty or service contracts.
  • Provide training to customers on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Work with riggers on equipment moves and installation work orders.
  • Inspect equipment via SS36 (10,20,30 & annual inspections) and document results with photographs.
  • Complete all required documentation, including expenses, time sheets, escalation reports, SS36 reports, and online training courses.
  • Promote Heidelberg service value to customers to generate additional revenue.
  • Assist with APS/car stock sales.
Requirements
  • 3‑5 years of experience working on printing or similar equipment, preferably Heidelberg or comparable sheetfed machines.
  • Experience with bindery equipment (cutters, folders, stitchers, etc.) and mechanical/mechatronics background.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude and hands‑on experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and computer/tech skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and clear verbal and written communication.
  • Regular attendance and strict adherence to timelines.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time and work overtime or weekends as required.
