Maintenance Technician Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Accountabilities Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on production equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Complete mechanical repairs, adjustments, and equipment modifications as needed.
- Maintain the interior and exterior of the facility, including plumbing, electrical systems, drywall, painting, and general repairs.
- Assess and prioritize maintenance tasks across the property, addressing issues proactively.
- Complete daily work schedules and maintenance work orders as assigned, ensuring timely and quality execution.
- Design and fabricate simple machine components, fixtures, tooling to improve equipment performance and safety.
- Assist engineers with machine design, equipment modifications, automation, and capital improvements.
- Support the installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment.
- Recommend equipment improvements that enhance safety, productivity, quality, and reliability.
- Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies necessary for maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager to ensure adequate stock levels and timely procurement of materials.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to 5S and lean principles.
- Identify and communicate potential safety hazards or concerns to the Maintenance Manager.
- Collaborate with production teams to identify and resolve maintenance needs that impact operations.
- Provide technical support for facility layout improvements and new equipment installations.
- Participate in special projects and other responsibilities as determined by the Maintenance Manager.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical certification or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanical repair, electrical systems, or engineering is preferred.
- 510 years of hands‑on maintenance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills across a variety of equipment types.
- Experience with general facility maintenance (plumbing, electrical, painting, repairs).
- Experience using CAD software (Solid Works, AutoCAD, or similar) to create simple drawings or machine components is preferred.
The candidate should possess excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. They must be able to read and interpret technical documents, including prints, production orders, safety rules, and operating and maintenance instructions, ensuring clear understanding and accurate execution of tasks.
Mathematical SkillsStrong mathematical skills are essential, including the ability to perform measurements and computations required for equipment calibration and diagnostics. The candidate must also be capable of applying metric conversions and other practical mathematical concepts to real-world situations in the maintenance environment.
Reasoning AbilityThe candidate must demonstrate strong problem‑solving and analytical skills to identify issues, collect and interpret data, and implement effective solutions. They should have the capacity to analyze technical scenarios, interpret complex instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and address both abstract and concrete variables effectively.
