JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Title: Pre-K Classroom Teacher

Qualifications: Teacher certification

Reports to: Building-level Administrators

Terms of Employment: Teacher contract

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaches elementary education classes to students, utilizing a course of study adopted by the Board of Education.

Instructs students in citizenship and subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.

Develops lesson plans and instructional materials, and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.

Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize instructional time.

Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.

Evaluates students' academic growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.

Communicates with parents to discuss student progress.

Identifies needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and assisting student's needs.

Creates an effective environment for learning through functional displays, bulletin boards, and centers.

Maintains professional competence through ongoing and systematic professional development.

Administers standardized testing in accordance with district policy and state law.
