JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Kennett School District seeks applicants for a Pre-K Classroom Teacher for the  school year. As part of our innovative 4-day school week schedule, you will have the opportunity to engage students in meaningful learning experiences while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Position Title: Pre-K Classroom Teacher

Qualifications: Teacher certification

Reports to: Building-level Administrators

Terms of Employment: Teacher contract

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Teaches elementary education classes to students, utilizing a course of study adopted by the Board of Education.
  • Instructs students in citizenship and subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials, and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
  • Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize instructional time.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Evaluates students' academic growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
  • Communicates with parents to discuss student progress.
  • Identifies needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and assisting student's needs.
  • Creates an effective environment for learning through functional displays, bulletin boards, and centers.
  • Maintains professional competence through ongoing and systematic professional development.
  • Administers standardized testing in accordance with district policy and state law.
