The Kennett School District seeks applicants for an Assistant Choir Director at Kennett High School/Kennett Middle School for the school year. As part of our innovative 4-day school week schedule, you will have the opportunity to engage students in meaningful learning experiences while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Applicants need to have a Missouri teacher certification or be eligible for certification.
Starting teacher pay is $40,000, and salary is based upon years of experience and education.

Performance Responsibilities- Instructs students in developing knowledge and skills in choral music in accordance with the course of study adopted by the Board of Education.
- Enables students to develop an appreciation of the art of music.
- Demonstrates techniques to students in choral music concepts.
- Develops clear and concise lesson plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of preparation, instruction, and rehearsal time.
- Assigns duties to choral assistants as necessary.
- Provides individual and small group instruction and adapts the curriculum to the needs of students with varying abilities.
- Uses a variety of instructional techniques and musical repertoire appropriate for the ages and skill level of students.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior and creates a safe, orderly, and effective environment for students.
- Arranges opportunities for students to present musical performances.
- Plans, rehearses, and directs students in musical programs for the school and community.
- Plan and organize concerts, musical plays, and other performances: scheduling, selecting music, conducting rehearsals; preparing and producing concert programs; organizing and leading large groups of students.
- Cooperates with the school administration in providing musical programs for school productions, graduation ceremonies, and civic functions.
- Instructs students in the proper care and use of equipment.
- Organizes storage areas and controls the use of materials and equipment related to the choral program.
- Maintains an organized and workable inventory of all music and equipment related to the choral program.
- Evaluates student performance and growth in knowledge and understandings and prepares regular progress reports.
- Conferences regularly with parents or guardians regarding behavior observations and the performance of students.
- Maintains thorough records for each student.
- Attends staff development programs, curriculum development meetings, and other professional activities.
- Keeps abreast of developments, research, and new technology in the field of music education.
