Completion of Safe Schools Web Based Training is required as a condition of employment.
Qualifications Required- Washington State Teacher’s certificate with endorsement in K-8
- Satisfactory evaluations
- Evidence of previous successful teaching experience at the middle level in history.
- Evidence of proven experience using GLAD strategies.
- Evidence of successful experience working as a member of a professional learning community.
- Experience in creating and analyzing performance assessments to determine effectiveness of instruction.
- Skills at organizing an appropriate behavior management system to prompt a positive learning environment.
- Willingness to adopt MTSS strategies as a foundation for classroom management.
- Punctual and consistent attendance.
- Experience identifying essential standards for ELA and History and implementing them into the History curriculum.
- Understanding of and willingness to administer Classroom Based Performance Assessments (CBPA's).
- Experience in working successfully with at risk students.
- Evidence of successful communication with staff, students, and parents.
- Design and provide instruction in History to meet the individual needs of students.
- Design and provide History instruction using district‑adopted materials and incorporating both History and ELA essential standards as identified by the PLC.
- Modify/scaffold lessons for students at all ability levels.
- Work effectively as a member of a professional learning community and demonstrate leadership skills through active participation in program, building and district staff training.
- Communicate student performance results, behavior concerns, academic progress, etc. regularly with parents, administration, and team members.
- Establish and maintain standards of student/classroom behavior to provide a supportive and productive learning environment.
- Demonstrate classroom management skills that allow for a safe and productive learning environment.
- Collaboratively prepare and support grade level and school programs and events.
- Collaboratively support students for district or community‑wide events.
- Work with staff in supporting and enhancing classroom activities.
- Work cooperatively with other staff to maintain a positive, disciplined, educationally sound learning environment for students.
- Other duties as assigned.
The employee is regularly required to stand and walk for prolonged periods, push or pull up to 26 lbs., and perform other general classroom tasks such as typing, handling materials, and supervising students.
