Qualifications
Required:
1. Valid Washington teacher's certificate with endorsements in K-8 and ML Math or Mathematics,
History and ML Math or Mathematics,
ML Humanities and ML Math or Mathematics
2. Satisfactory recommendations
Qualifications Preferred:
1. An understanding of the math Common Core State Standards.
2. Willingness to participate in Professional Learning Communities.
3. Ability to teach all math classes offered at Highlands, including high school level algebra and geometry.
4. GLAD Trained with successful implementation in classroom instruction or willingness to be trained and successfully implement the GLAD strategies.
5. Documented experience or training in developing and teaching a middle-level curriculum in math.
6. Evidence of the ability to establish rapport with students and motivate and instruct students at all levels of ability.
7. Evidence of the ability to maintain a positive, productive learning environment within the classroom.
8. Strong communication skills with students, staff, and parents.
9. Strong knowledge of classroom organization and management skills.
10. Ability to be flexible with students, staff, and parents.
11. Punctual and consistent attendance.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will be expected to:
1. Prepare for assigned classes and show written evidence of such preparation.
2. Provide instruction based on the Common Core State Standards in Math.
3. Attend and participate in faculty and team meetings.
4. Participate in workshops and other staff development programs that support building goals.
5. Be an effective member of a professional learning community by establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with others.
6. Clearly communicate student performance expectations.
7. Assess student learning and provide feedback on a regular basis.
8. Communicate regularly and positively with students, staff, and parents regarding student progress and behavior.
9. Clearly communicate student behavior expectations; create classroom routines and procedures that manage student behavior skillfully; discipline students fairly and consistently using the Make Your Day Respect and Responsibility program.
10. Use the computer to keep accurate records of student attendance and academic progress.
11. Evidence of training and experience utilizing computer technology in the classroom including Google Classroom and the Google Suite.
12. Enforce and uphold all District and building policies and regulations.
13. Other duties as assigned.

The employee must be able to lift or move up to 10 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 26 lbs; must also be able to lift overhead. The employee may be required to physically move quickly in an emergency or while performing student supervision duties.
