Required Qualifications- Valid Washington State teacher’s certificate with endorsements in Elementary Education or K‑8
- Bilingual/Biliterate in Spanish (must pass STAMP)
- Satisfactory evaluations
- Evidence of motivating and instructing students of all ability levels with emphasis on providing for their individual learning styles
- Evidence of maintaining a positive, productive learning climate within the classroom and with parents and colleagues
- Evidence of recent successful elementary teaching experience with culturally diverse children
- Evidence of recent (within last 5 years) coursework in areas of reading/language arts, social skills and science
- Evidence of successful communication with school staff, parents and students
- Training and/or experience in the use of GLAD
- Training and/or experience in biliteracy strategies
- Training and/or experience in biliteracy teaching (English/Spanish) or willingness to attend such trainings
- Experience working effectively with a broad range of ability levels using MTSS model and expectations
- The ability to work as a team member in planning, curriculum development, grade level responsibilities, and building responsibilities
- Training and/or experience in utilizing technology as instructional tool
- Training and/or experience in administering various types of assessment tools – WIDA & Star performance assessments using a rubric, etc.; ability to track students’ progress in ELA in both English and Spanish in order to provide interventions
- Experience and/or training teaching writing to middle school students
- Punctual and consistent attendance
- Prepare students for Building, District, and State assessments
- Prepare class assignments and provide written evidence of preparation when requested of the immediate supervisor
- Provide an effective program of instruction in accordance with the school's language and content allocation, grade level standards, and supporting instructional materials
- Use PERR (Purpose, Engagement, Rigor and Results) in daily planning and instruction
- Be a team player by establishing and maintaining cooperative, accountable professional relationships with others
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues
- Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules and administrative regulations
- Attend and participate in faculty in-service, trainings, and committee meetings
- Cooperate with other staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods
- Encourage parent involvement and participate in parent involvement activities
- Explore and implement different curriculum and teaching strategies as identified through building/grade level adoption process
- Value a multicultural school population; work well with students and parents of different cultures
- Support district and building goals by participating in planning, training, implementing, and evaluating effectiveness of programs, grants, curriculum and teaching methodologies that the school participates in
- Assess students in reading, math, and writing as directed by the district and school assessment plans
- Provide specific reading and writing interventions in both English and Spanish based on student performance on CFAs and other assessments
- Be flexible in schedule changes to accommodate other staff and community faculty usage
- Maintain good classroom management
- Work collaboratively with para educators and other teachers to devise appropriate instruction for all students
