Security Personnel
Location: Legacy High School
Hours: 8 Hours Per Day, 180 Days per Year
Starting Date: Aug 25, 2026
This position is responsible for all aspects of campus safety and school security. The employee maintains an orderly and safe school environment for students and staff.

- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must present transcripts of highest level of education within 30 days of hire.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position.
- May be required to pass a basic skills test.
- Completion of Safe Schools Web‑Based Training within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.
- Must pass a background check, including employee‑paid fingerprinting.
- Must have a clean driving record, a valid Washington driver’s license, and personal transportation with appropriate automobile insurance.
- Uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures.
- Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Attend in‑service trainings and other meetings as required or directed by management.
- Assess and correct safety issues.
- Maintain a tactful, cooperative, and effective relationship with students, parents, staff, and management.
- Approach work professionally, fostering teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Communicate in English verbally and in writing with students, parents, district staff, and other stakeholders.
- Use basic computer programs to maintain records, enter timecard data, and respond to email.
- Write clear investigative reports.
- Use Microsoft Office and school systems.
- Manage unpredictable situations with flexibility, diplomacy, and good judgment.
- Possess current first aid or CPR certification or be willing to obtain one.
- Have positive character references and a strong work ethic.
- Demonstrate excellent attendance, punctuality, and dependability.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal, conflict‑resolution, and communication skills.
- AA or BA degree or equivalent.
- Previous security and/or police experience within the past 3 years.
- Experience working with secondary‑aged students within the last 3 years.
- Maintain a visible presence throughout campus and community areas.
- Investigate student behavior and discipline matters; assist in disciplinary actions.
- Write reports and communicate with parents, students, and staff about student management issues.
- Manage initial student discipline procedures, including detention, cleanup, and after‑school intervention.
- Collaborate with the high school Police Student Resource Officer as needed.
- Participate in the student behavior committee to set and review building policies.
- Use interpersonal skills to diffuse situations and reduce tension.
- Model appropriate adult behavior and communication.
- Lock and unlock buildings daily; check s of entrants.
- Be immediately available for staff and student assistance in routine and emergency situations.
- Investigate all reported law violations and complete written incident reports.
- Confront intruders and report violations to the appropriate administrator.
- Support the building’s extracurricular program and maintain order at after‑school activities, dances, and athletic events.
- Nurture and give attention to students with special needs.
- Work effectively with multicultural and at‑risk students.
- Perform all duties in accordance with Kennewick School District policies and procedures, including regular attendance and punctuality.

Add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. - Reasoning Ability: Define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions, and interpret instructions.
- Technology
Skills:
Learn and use Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Exacq Vision (video surveillance system).
Employees must stand, walk, and move for prolonged periods, push or pull 25–50 lbs., lift up to 18–26 lbs., and perform duties in outdoor temperatures ranging from –10°F to 100°F or higher. The noise level is moderate. Employees may need to respond quickly in emergencies.
