Dual Language 6th Grade Teacher (1.0 FTE Con). The dual‑language program aims to develop high levels of proficiency in Spanish and English, to help all students attain the WA State Seal of Biliteracy, to meet grade‑level academic standards in both languages, and to foster sociocultural competence.
- Valid Washington State teacher’s certificate with endorsements in Elementary Education or K‑8.
- Bilingual/Biliterate in Spanish (must pass STAMP).
- Satisfactory evaluations.
- Completion of SAFE Schools web‑based training (required condition of employment).
- Evidence of motivating and instructing students of all ability levels with emphasis on individualized learning styles.
- Evidence of maintaining a positive, productive learning climate with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Recent teaching experience with culturally diverse children (within the last 5 years).
- Recent coursework in reading/language arts, social studies, and science.
- Experience with GLAD and biliteracy strategies.
- Experience with RTI model and expectations.
- Team‑based planning, curriculum development, and grade‑level responsibilities.
- Use of technology as an instructional tool.
- Assessment experience (WIDA, Star performance assessments, etc.).
- Experience teaching writing to elementary level students.
- Punctual and consistent attendance.
- Prepare students for Building, District, and State assessments.
- Develop and administer class assignments; provide written evidence of preparation as requested.
- Deliver an effective program of instruction in accordance with language and content allocations, standards, and instructional materials.
- Apply the Purpose, Engagement, Rigor, and Results (PERR) model in daily planning and instruction.
- Collaborate with colleagues through PLCs, committee meetings, and faculty in‑service sessions.
- Maintain open communication with students, parents, and staff.
- Enforce school rules and administrative regulations.
- Assist in upholding safety and mobility protocols.
- Provide MTSS in Spanish and English.
- Cooperate with para‑educators and other teachers to design instruction for all students.
- Support district and building goals through planning, training, and curriculum implementation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Stand, walk, and remain standing for prolonged periods; move or pull 18–26 lbs.; lift up to 26 lbs. and occasionally 10 lbs.; use hands for typing and handling.
- Work outdoors in temperatures ranging from –10°F to 100°F+; withstand wet or humid conditions.
- Maintain basic visual and auditory abilities; communicate effectively.
