Completion of Safe Schools Web Based Training Is Required As A Condition Of Employment

Required Qualifications:

  • Washington State Teaching Certificate with endorsement/major in Business and Marketing Education
  • Washington State CTE Certificate with Business and Marketing Education endorsement
  • Satisfactory evaluations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Evidence of training or experience in using technology and real world applications to enhance the teaching and learning of business education.
  • Ability to use/learn Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point Software, and Photoshop.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of spreadsheet and database application.
  • Awareness of current changes affecting business and marketing education.
  • Ability to motivate and instruct students of all ability levels with emphasis on providing for their individual learning styles (Basic levels and extensions beyond basics).
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the leadership requirements of the program, including DECA supervision.
  • Demonstrated success in maintaining a positive, productive learning climate within the classroom as well as with parents and colleagues.
  • Experience or training in guiding the leadership/CTSO requirements of the program.
  • Satisfactory evaluations.
  • Punctuality and consistent attendance.

Job Description:

  • Teach computer applications and other business and marketing classes.

  • Participate in the development of an integrated curriculum and its implementation into instruction.
  • Incorporate technology into the instructional process.

  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues.

  • Be flexible and cooperative in schedule changes and accommodating in other needs for use of facility.
  • Participate in building wide programs including PLC's, teaching technology, violence prevention, multicultural education, study skills, and social skills.
  • Provide guidance to leadership as described in the duties of the position.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to Career and Technical Education (CTE) and be willing to actively support and advise DECA, our Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO). This includes participation in conferences, competitions, leadership events, and overnight travel throughout the school year.
  • The successful candidate will also play an active role in supporting the school's student-run business enterprises (SBEs), including the school store and other entrepreneurial ventures.

  • Mobility:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time, push or pull 18-26 lbs., sit, kneel and crouch, twist and bend, use hands to type, finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arm.
  • Sense:
    The employee is required to talk/hear conversations and other sounds. The employee must be able to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. The employee is required to taste and smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, far vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Lifting:
    The employee must be able to lift or move up to 10 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 26lbs pounds; must also be able to lift overhead.
  • The employee may be required to physically move quickly in an emergency or while performing student supervision duties.
