Qualifications
Required:
1. Valid current Washington State teaching certificate appropriate for high school with endorsement in Art
3. Satisfactory evaluations
Qualifications preferred:
1. Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements for Art Education.
2. Endorsement in second core subject area.
3. Evidence of recent successful experience working with students in a multicultural educational setting, with a belief and desire to teach all students.
4. High school teaching experience in Art within the past five years.
5. Evidence of high standards in classroom management and student achievement.
6. Participate in departmental PLC, projects/activities, and school wide efforts to promote the arts
7. Broad teaching repertoire, including instructional approaches for inclusion, differentiation, and standards based proficiency.
8. Willingness to provide opportunities for students interested in pursuing art as a career objective such as linking with local artists, Allied Arts Council, or developing professional portfolios.
9. Punctual and consistent attendance.
Job Description:
1. Teach a variety of introductory art/drawing courses, including International Baccalaureate courses and/or students as assigned by the principal.
2. Participate as a team member of the visual arts department in a collaborative and cooperative manner.
3. Communicate regularly and positively with students and parents regarding student progress and behavior.
4. Maintain a positive attitude and productive learning environment.
5. Ability to teach in a second endorsement area.
6. Support and uphold all Kennewick High School rules and District-wide policies.
7. Actively participate in an assist with the development of the art curriculum as a part of a continuing evolutionary process as mandated by the Commission on Student Learning and the District Strategic Plan.
8. Provide for art education to be integrated with other core subject learning across the curriculum.
9. Other duties as assigned.

The employee is required to talk/hear conversations and other sounds. The employee must be able to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. The employee is required to taste and smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, far vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Lifting:
The employee must be able to lift or move up to 10 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 26 lbs; must also be able to lift overhead. The employee may be required to physically move quickly in an emergency or while performing student supervision duties.
