• Washington State Teacher’s Certificate with endorsement in Special Education
• Valid Washington State Driver’s License
• Valid First Aid and CPR card
• Satisfactory evaluations

• Demonstrated knowledge of Life Skills education and special education practices
• Ability to apply developmentally appropriate practices and implement legal requirements regarding special education
• Experience developing IEPs and transition plans for students with a range of disabilities
• Experience working with students with significant behavior difficulties and vocational community transitional planning
• Physical stamina to support students in toileting, feeding, changing, and other life skills activities
• Team teaching experience and ability to collaborate with general education teachers
• Strong communication with parents, staff, community organizations and supervisors
• Commitment to inclusive education settings

• Provide appropriate assessment of students in the moderate, severe and multiple disability range
• Plan and deliver vocational skill training programs
• Organize and conduct IEP meetings
• Prepare, organize, implement, and supervise Individualized Transition Plans and IEPs with the IEP team
• Write measurable goals and objectives to track student growth
• Maintain required records and complete necessary paperwork per law and district policy
• Communicate regularly with parents, school staff, students, community organizations and work supervisors
• Provide opportunities for peer interaction with non-disabled students
• Serve as an IEP case manager and update current IEPs
• Manage time effectively and remain flexible to the demands of the position
• Support students in an enthusiastic, supportive and consistent manner
• Meet the physical needs of disabled students including toileting, feeding, changing clothing and assisting with medical devices
• Maintain classroom discipline and an orderly educational program
• Utilize technology in teaching and student management
• Oversee and supervise classroom para educators
• Apply direct instruction methods and individualized support, collaborate with general education teachers, and design transition plans to prepare students for post‑high‑school experiences
• Perform other duties as assigned

The job requires regular standing, walking, pushing or pulling 18–26 lbs., kneeling, crouching, twisting, bending, typing, lifting up to 26 lbs., and moving quickly in emergencies. Employees must work outdoors in temperatures ranging from –10 °F to 100 °F+, and handle varied moisture and noise levels.
