Completion of Safe Schools Web Based Training is required as a condition of employment.

Qualifications
  • Valid Washington State teacher’s certificate with endorsement in elementary education
  • Satisfactory evaluations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Successful teaching experience as documented by evaluations and references.
  • Willingness to comply with requirement to teach curriculum as implemented at school.
  • Evidence of success in working well with parents, students, and staff members.
  • Evidence of success in working with others to develop a cohesive, collaborative, teaming situation.
  • Recent intermediate classroom teaching experience within the last three years.
  • Training or demonstrated successful experience in:
    • PBIS and willingness to follow progressive discipline plan
    • Journeys Curriculum
    • Cooperative learning
    • Use of technology and its integration into instruction, especially computers
    • Alternative assessment strategies based on rubrics or other standards
    • Hands-on science instruction using Carolina Biological STC Kit
    • TPEP evaluation and Danielson Framework
    • GLAD training
  • Willingness to or evidence of successfully including students with special needs into the regular classroom.
  • Evidence of success in working with students below or above grade level and aligning curriculum to Common Core with varied assessment techniques.
  • Evidence of successful classroom management and positive student/teacher relationships.
  • Evidence of using data to adjust support for student progress.
  • Belief that all students can succeed, No Exceptions.
  • Punctual and consistent attendance.
  • Job Responsibilities
  • Meet and instruct the students at the designated location and time.
  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within available resources.
  • Prepare for classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities; follow safety procedures.
  • Teach students to maintain high standards of classroom behavior with a written plan aligned to school expectations.
  • Maintain records as required by law and district policy.
  • Uphold and enforce school rules and administrative regulations.
  • Attend and participate in faculty and team meetings.
  • Teach curriculum using developmentally appropriate practices, hands-on projects, and cooperative group activities; assess progress in multiple ways.

  • Communicate openly with students, parents, and colleagues about academic and behavioral progress.

  • Physical Demands
