Teacher responsible for preparing students for Building, District, and State assessments. Provides an effective program of instruction in accordance with the school’s adopted curriculum materials, maintains a positive and productive learning climate, collaborates with team members, upholds school rules and regulations, and participates in professional learning communities.
Responsibilities- Prepare for classes assigned and provide written evidence of preparation upon request.
- Teach each program with fidelity, adapting instruction to meet the needs of all ability levels.
- Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships with colleagues, parents, and students.
- Maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, colleagues, and supervisors.
- Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules and administrative regulations.
- Attend and participate in faculty in-service trainings and meetings.
- Be flexible with schedule changes to accommodate other staff and community faculty usage.
- Maintain good classroom management and work collaboratively with para educators.
- Perform other duties as required by the school.
Stand and walk for prolonged periods; push or pull 18–26 lbs.; sit, kneel, crouch, twist, and bend; use hands for typing and handling. Must maintain close, far, color, peripheral, depth, and general vision. May lift 10–26 lbs. and move quickly in emergencies.
Work EnvironmentExposure to outdoor temperatures ranging from –10°F to 100°F, wet or humid conditions, and moderate noise levels.
QualificationsRequired:
- Valid Washington State teacher’s certificate appropriate for elementary education.
- Satisfactory evaluations.
Preferred:
- Evidence of motivating and instructing students of all ability levels.
- Evidence of maintaining a positive learning climate with parents and colleagues.
- Recent successful primary teaching experience with culturally diverse students.
- Training or experience with the Origo Stepping Stones Series.
- Training or experience with the Journeys Reading Series.
- Training or experience with Reading Mastery, Corrective Reading, and other Direct Instruction supplemental programs.
- Experience with RTI model and expectations.
- Teamwork in planning, curriculum development, grade-level responsibilities, RTI implementation, and building duties.
- Training or experience utilizing technology as an instructional tool.
- Training or experience administering MAP and DIBELS performance assessments with rubrics.
- Experience or training with Step Up to Writing.
- Experience or training in the Make Your Day discipline program.
- Evidence of successful communication with staff, parents, and students.
- Willingness to participate in PLC meetings.
- Punctual and consistent attendance.
