Required:

1. Valid Washington State Teacher's Certificate appropriate with endorsements in K-8 or Science or Middle Level Science

2. Satisfactory evaluations

Qualifications Preferred:
1. Evidence of training and experience utilizing computer technology for word processing, Excel, Powerpoint, grading, recording attendance, communication by E-mail and implementing these computer programs into daily use in the classroom required.

2. Evidence of motivating and instructing students of all ability levels with emphasis on providing for their individual learning styles.

3. Evidence of maintaining a positive, productive learning climate within the classroom as well as with parents and colleagues.

4. Evidence of awareness of the current changes affecting science education.

5. Demonstrated leadership in professional activities related to science education.

6. Punctual and consistent attendance.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Be able to teach all classes in our Science curriculum
  • Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request
  • Create an atmosphere where cultural diversity is a strength and have the attitude that we will meet the needs of any child who enters our school
  • Participate in the development of common assessments and to work collaboratively within the department
  • Incorporate technology into the instructional process
  • Become involved with business and community partnerships
  • Work with advisory committees recommendation
  • Be a "team" player by establishing and maintaining cooperative professional relationships with others
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Be innovative and committed to the challenge of change in education
  • Be committed to success for all children
  • Cooperate in schedule changes and accommodating in other needs for use of facility
  • Participate in workshops and training sessions that support building programs
  • Actively seek to incorporate inquiry-based labs in the science classroom
  • Perform other duties as required

The employee is required to talk/hear conversations and other sounds. The employee must be able to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. The employee is required to taste and smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, far vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Lifting:
The employee must be able to lift or move up to 10 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 26 lbs; must also be able to lift overhead. The employee may be required to physically move quickly in an emergency or while performing student supervision duties.
