Job Description:

This position will involve working as a substitute/on-call teacher to assist schools on a program need basis. The positions will be varied, and may include instruction with basic education and disabled students in self contained and regular education settings, and performing other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Valid Washington State teacher’s certification.
  • The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to:
    • Cope with unpredictability
    • Be flexible, diplomatic and cooperative
    • Follow the teacher’s lesson plan
    • Model appropriate behavior
    • Demonstrate patience, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward working with students with disabling conditions
    • Maintain composure in difficult situations
    • Value the confidential nature of sensitive student information
  • Successful experience working with school-aged children.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with a variety of people.
  • Ability to follow directions in a team situation.
  • Willingness to work with all children within the school regardless of abilities.
  • Satisfactory evaulations
  • Submit application along with the following documents:
    • Copies of college transcripts (official not necessary unless hired)
    • College placement file and/or three current letters of recommendation
    • Copy of your Washington State teaching certificate
  • Must comply with and successfully implement the policies and procedures of the Kennewick School District.
  • Punctual attendance.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

    Mobility: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time, push or pull 18-26 lbs., sit, kneel and crouch, twist and bend, use hands to type, finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arm.

    Sense: The employee is required to talk/hear conversations and other sounds. The employee must be able to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. The employee is required to taste and smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, far vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

    Lifting: The employee must be able to lift or move up to 10 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 26 lbs; must also be able to lift overhead. The employee may be required to physically move quickly in an emergency or while performing student supervision duties.

    Physical Hazards: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work outdoors in a wide variety of temperatures; from
