Job Summary:

We are seeking a contract Power BI Developer to design, build, and maintain reporting and analytics solutions supporting various business divisions. This role involves working with Dataverse data models, creating dynamic reports and dashboards, and collaborating with stakeholders to translate business needs into effective visualizations. The initial contract term is one year with an option to extend.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models.
Build reporting solutions on established Dataverse data models.
Develop data connections and transformations using Power Query (SQL Server, Azure Blob Storage, Cosmos DB).
Develop and optimize DAX measures, calculated columns, and semantic relationships.
Partner with stakeholders to translate business questions into visualizations.
Implement reports following workspace, dataset, and row-level security standards.
Maintain and enhance existing reports including performance tuning, refresh troubleshooting, and defect resolution.
Document semantic models and support end-user adoption through walkthroughs.
Participate in agile ceremonies and backlog refinement.

Required Skills &

Certifications:

Minimum 4 years professional Power BI development experience.
At least 3 years strong DAX proficiency including measures, time intelligence, and performance optimization.
3 years experience with Power Query/M for data transformation.
3 years experience with SQL and relational data querying.
2 years experience in dimensional/semantic data modeling (star schema).
2 years building Power BI reports against Dataverse/Dynamics 365.
4 years stakeholder engagement and requirements translation experience.
Strong data visualization judgment and ability to manage priorities independently.

Preferred Skills &

Certifications:

2 years experience implementing and testing row-level security.
2 years Power BI Service administration experience (work spaces, gateways, deployment).
Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
2 years experience using Azure Blob Storage and Cosmos DB as data sources.
Experience in public sector or regulatory environments.
PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst) certification.

Special Considerations:

Contract role with an initial 11-month duration and option to extend.
Interview process conducted via webcam only.
Work location is Richmond, VA.
