The Marketing and Grant Manager is responsible for developing and coordinating marketing, communications, public relations, community outreach, and grant development for the Washington County Recreation Department. The position will promote recreation programs, athletic leagues, tournaments, facilities, special events, and capital improvement projects. This position will also provide marketing, grant research, grant writing, application preparation, reporting, and communications support to other Washington County departments as assigned by the Recreation Director, County Administrator, or other authorized county leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies for the Recreation Department.
- Manage department social media, website content, newsletters, press releases, and public communications.
- Create flyers, advertisements, digital graphics, presentations, and other promotional materials.
- Promote recreation programs, tournaments, special events, facilities, and community activities.
- Photograph and document programs, events, tournaments, and capital improvement projects.
- Research federal, state, local, corporate, and foundation grant opportunities.
- Prepare and submit grant applications, narratives, budgets, supporting documents, and reports.
- Track grant deadlines, awards, expenditures, and reporting requirements.
- Assist other county departments with grant research, writing, applications, reporting, and funding opportunities.
- Assist with sponsorship development and partnerships with businesses, nonprofits, civic organizations, schools, and community groups.
- Promote Washington County as a destination for youth sports tournaments and recreational events.
- Assist with publicizing county capital improvement projects and community accomplishments.
- Coordinate marketing and communications for major events, tournaments, ribbon cuttings, and special events.
- Prepare presentations and reports for the Recreation Director, County Administrator, Board of Commissioners, and other stakeholders.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong grant-writing and research skills.
- Knowledge of marketing, public relations, and social media.
- Strong organizational and project-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to create professional written and visual content.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with county departments and community partners.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common digital marketing/design platforms.
- Ability to maintain professional relationships and represent Washington County positively.
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business Administration, Public Administration, Recreation Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred.
Equivalent education, training, and professional experience may be considered. Experience in grant writing, government, nonprofit organizations, marketing, public relations, parks and recreation, or community development is preferred.
WORK SCHEDULEGenerally, Monday–Friday during normal business hours; however, occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required for tournaments, special events, meetings, grant deadlines, and other county activities.
