The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store and for the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors open and close the Store, supervise Associates, and maintain a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment. They ensure proper merchandise presentation, keep work areas clean, and execute company operational processes as required.

Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Safety is the number one priority; practices safe behaviors in all activities.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment.
  • Corrects or reports any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
  • Responsible for building security, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, cash office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area.
  • Removes clutter and keeps emergency exits clear.
  • Ensures customer safety, accident prevention, and emergency procedures.
  • Tests fire alarm systems and responds to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
  • Treats all Customers, Associates, and other leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.
  • Recognizes Associates using company recognition programs.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and enforces the company dress code.
  • Keeps all areas of the Store clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensures recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet company standards by teaching, assigning tasks, and following up.
  • Receives merchandise trucks when needed.
  • Processes all merchandise with a sense of urgency.
  • Handles all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms.
  • Helps deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor after processing.
  • Secures and processes back‑stock according to policy.
  • Merchandises departments, including back‑stock and promotional signage, and performs re‑wrapping as needed.
  • Contributes to loss prevention by minimizing damage and ensuring monthly presentation guidelines.
Loss Prevention
  • Follows the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintains a strong on‑floor presence.
  • Demonstrates integrity and protects confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Maintains the Public View Monitor (PVM) system.
  • Conducts "Code 50" package inspections.
  • Executes best practices to maximize productivity and minimize steps.
Front End Supervision And Operations
  • Ensures Associates perform to company front‑end standards.
  • Maintains pace, energy, and presence to expedite customer wait times.
  • Trains and coaches Associates on cash registers, shortage control, and other front‑end procedures.
  • Controls associate break schedules for backups, lunches, and breaks.
  • Ensures all equipment is working properly.
  • Maintains supplies and recovery for the front‑end area.
  • Expedites go‑backs, ensuring they are scanned, security‑tagged, and ticketed.
  • Teaches the "Scan and Bag" best practice.
  • Ensures salability of merchandise on the front‑end, aisle tables, and specialty racks.
Fitting Rooms
  • Maintains cleanliness and cleanliness of fitting rooms.
  • Ensures all fitting room garment tags are audited and accounted for per policy.
  • Ensures go‑back compliance throughout the day.
Administrative Duties As Assigned By Store Manager
  • Conducts cash pulls and bank deposits per company policy.
  • Handles front‑end control when required, including refund approval, associate purchase approval, cash handling, and register operations.
  • Manages payroll administration, including daily punch edits, associate scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission, and payroll reporting.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Store Manager.
