BMID operates and maintains an irrigation system that serves 4,500 acres and operates and maintains a potable water distribution system serving 900 homes.
Job Summary: The Entry Level Operator
- In Training is primarily responsible for assisting in the day‑to‑day maintenance and operation of the District’s irrigation and potable water distribution systems. This is a full‑time bargaining unit position.
- A current Washington State Driver’s License with a good driving record.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs over rough terrain and to perform heavy manual labor in all weather as required.
- Ability to climb up above‑ground water reservoirs as needed.
- Reasonable knowledge of work methods and equipment involved in public works construction and maintenance.
- Ability to work independently; carry out written and oral directions; and to work well with other employees.
- Current Washington State Flaggers Certification.
- Basic knowledge of techniques, procedures, and safe practices associated with water utilities.
- Experience with plumbing, pipe fitting, underground utility construction, safety procedures such as confined space entry, trenching/shoring techniques is helpful.
