Position OverviewThis role involves inspecting, repairing, servicing, and maintaining gasoline, diesel‑powered, and electronically operated mobile equipment. You will learn how each piece of equipment functions, become an expert on your work, and expand your skill set by working on new equipment daily. Wage: $26.00/hr – $33.00/hr DOE with potential overtime.

- Analyze malfunctions and repair, rebuild, and maintain equipment.
- Travel to Hermiston, OR shop as required.
- Operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects.
- Dismantle and reassemble equipment using hoists and hand tools.
- Examine parts for damage or excessive wear with micrometers and gauges.
- Replace defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions.
- Test overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency and operational readiness.
- Direct workers assisting with cleaning parts and assembly/disassembly tasks.
- Maintain detailed records of time and parts used on appropriate forms.
- Perform general cleaning of work and maintenance areas.
- Assist maintenance department staff to ensure operational efficiency of vehicles.
- Communicate promptly with supervisors about material flaws.
- Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
- Complete additional tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs.
- Maintain regular and timely attendance.
- Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Minimum Qualifications- Safety‑minded professional with good performance, attendance, and punctuality.
- 1–2 years of experience.
- Experience with diesel trucks.
- Experience with trailers and air brakes.
- Must pass a pre‑employment physical exam and controlled substance testing.
- Adhere to OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and all company or state regulations.
- Work independently without direct supervision.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, truck drivers, heavy‑equipment operators, and other employees.
- Follow written and/or verbal instructions.
- Willingness to learn and perform a variety of job tasks.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Work weekends and all shifts during busy season.
- Good depth perception and coordination to operate machine controls.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous fleet equipment experience preferred.
- Frequently sit, climb, and handle equipment with hands.
- Frequently stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach above shoulders.
- Occasionally lift or move items up to 50–75 lbs.
- Vision requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
- Exposed to wet and humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, outside weather, extreme cold, and heat.
- Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
- Company will provide PPE; employee must supply steel‑toed or composite‑toed boots.
