About the role

As the Superintendent
- Mining you will be responsible and accountable for all activities conducted in the Cochenour Mine to ensure the safest and most efficient use of resources, for monitoring processes to attain maximum efficiency, for ensuring crew health and safety, for cost-effectiveness, and for achieving overall environmental and corporate objectives of the operation at Evolution Mining Red Lake Operation. This recruitment is for a new role.

Schedule is 14 days on / 14 days off – 12-hour shifts and can be residential or FIFO/DIDO.

Key Result Areas in this role include:

  • Provide strategic and active direction for underground operations
  • Prepare and control Mine department’s annual goals and objectives
  • Ensure compliance to annual budget
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership in the development and enhancement of Mine policies and procedures
  • Provide operations and technical guidance in the development of best techniques, best practices, and the introduction of best equipment to improve the performance of the underground
  • Provide technical and operating support to various projects
  • Provide strategy and direction for the development of short and long-term plans for the safe, cost-effective and efficient removal of ore reserves at the budgeted rate
  • Ensure the underground meets targets on safety, dilution, grade control, development and production.
  • Ensure production plans, ventilation, ground and geological controls are in place to allow for proper stope sequencing
  • Manage contractors and ensure objectives of the mining agreement are being fulfilled
  • Assess the performance of the underground operation through reports, control procedures, and site inspections, and make the necessary adjustments
  • Interact with other departments, mining contractors, consultants, and MOL officials
  • Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation and commitment to satisfy our operation’s goal of being accident-free
  • Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements
  • Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • About you

    As the Superintendent
    - Mining you should have 10 years’ experience in the field with a minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience. A Mine Engineering degree, combined with relevant underground mining experience is ideal or previous extensive experience as an Underground Mining leader.

    In addition, you must possess or be able to demonstrate the following:

    • Excellent interpersonal skills

    • Well-developed ability to comprehend and interpret technical data to drive operational improvements

    • Solid understanding of budgeting

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities

    • Effective time management skills and able to manage multiple priorities

    • Good computer skills with competence using Microsoft Office products

    • Displays initiative and is a self-starter

    • Possesses a strong work ethic

    • Demonstrated ability to set and achieving personal goals and objectives.

    • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving capabilities

    • Superior planning and directing abilities

    • Effectively capable of managing performance of others.

    • Competent conflict management and resolution skills

    • Good motivator and coach, and capable of developing others

    • Remains focused during challenging circumstances.

    • Maintains emotional control under stress and applies tact in difficult situations
