HD Mechanic

About the role

The Heavy Duty/Diesel (HD) Mechanic role offers the opportunity to provide service and maintenance support to the underground fleet of mobile equipment at Red Lake Operations. The role will be on a 14 days on / 14 days off roster (12 hours). Residential is preferred, but the position is also open to FIFO and DIDO with access to camp accommodation. A competitive salary, bonus structure and future growth are offered.

Compensation ranges from $106,000 to $130,000 CAD.

Location:

Red Lake, Northwestern Ontario, Canada – a high‑grade gold deposit with underground mines and processing plants.

• Inspection of equipment and timely elimination of defects.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair underground mining equipment safely and efficiently.
• Create a running list of items to repair when the machine goes down for scheduled PMs.
• Get task trained and certified to operate all equipment in the specific cell.
• Align with crews to meet or exceed all safe production goals and objectives relative to the budget.
• Correct hazards and report safety concerns to Supervisor.
• Provide guidance and instruction on operator care program (wash, pre‑op & reporting, lube).
• Ensure all equipment safety features are in good working order.
• Create work orders for all work; communicate open defects for planning and scheduling at PM.
• Comply with federal and provincial acts, regulations, and legal requirements.
• Adhere to all corporate policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Post‑secondary education in a mechanical program or progressive apprenticeship leading to a certified trade.
• Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma with a valid Heavy Duty Mechanic Interprovincial Certificate and previous experience.
• At least 3‑5 years of mining experience, including underground operations and mobile equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and language.
• Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations for mines and mining plants.
• Excellent organizational and time‑management skills with ability to meet deadlines.
• Effective troubleshooting techniques.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Good verbal and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with others.
• Knowledge of computerized systems.
• Ability to adapt to change, work independently with minimal supervision, and thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
