Job Description:
CDM Smith is excited to invite skilled Inspectors to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will provide professional and independent construction inspection and oversight for significant Federal Construction Projects involving agencies such as USACE, AFCEC, and NAVFAC. The Construction Inspection Specialist is responsible for conducting comprehensive inspections, documenting findings, and communicating any issues to project leadership. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring projects are completed successfully, adhering to safety regulations and all outlined requirements. This position allows for independent work with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct on-site inspections of construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance projects to confirm compliance with approved design specifications and safety codes.
- Document inspection findings meticulously, noting deficiencies and outlining required corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineers and project management teams to review contractor submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and material certifications.
- Monitor project progress and prepare detailed daily and status reports, along with technical recommendations.
- Inspect materials and ensure testing processes comply with specifications.
- Oversee field construction services, ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and quality control standards.
- Conduct thorough site investigations and actively participate in various project meetings, including pre-construction and project closeout.
- Provide mentorship to junior construction professionals and serve as a liaison between contractors and engineering staff.
- Perform additional related duties as necessary.
- High School Diploma.
- At least 5 years of relevant construction experience.
- Willingness to travel domestically and potentially overseas.
- Previous experience with Federal or DoD projects (NAVFAC, USACE, or Air Force CE).
- Experience in both vertical and horizontal construction disciplines.
- Understanding of federal acquisition practices and familiarity with UFGS specifications.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification.
- Training in Construction Quality Management for Contractors.
