Overview
The Grading Foreman will be responsible for accurate reporting of materials, equipment, and hours of work as well as the management and safety of the personnel on his/her crew and the safety of the public and ensuring regulatory and safety measures are maintained. Responsible for checking line and grade, able to properly utilize equipment to accomplish tasks involving grade, slope and yield.
Operate a variety of power equipment such as but not limited to road graders, rollers, dozers, excavators, skid steers and other machinery as needed. Perform other duties as assigned under the direction of the Field Superintendent or other management.
Operate equipment and oversee the grading crew for the preparation of subgrade for roads, driveways, parking lots and other projects for asphalt installation. Work with one or several types of power construction equipment in a safe and effective manner to minimize the risk of injury and property damage. Able to read and understand grade stakes and construction plans. Clean, maintain and secure all equipment.
Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Assist with repairs as needed.
Ability to use a laser level, acquire and establish grades on projects is a desired skill in this position.
Qualifications And Education Requirements- Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record and Class A CDL or ability/willingness to obtain.
- 3-5 years of experience in the construction trade, and 2-4 years of experience in a sub-foreman or leadership role.
- Must be punctual and dependable.
- Able to work varied hours including weekends as needed.
- Be able to tolerate and work in variable weather conditions, and work in dirty and dusty environments.
- Ability to manage own time, and time of other construction industry personnel efficiently.
- Ability to motivate, develop, direct, and lead a team.
- Coordinating and supervising activities of one or more crews for a project.
- Allotting crews to their respective duties and making sure that they have the appropriate training and tools so that they can execute their jobs accurately.
- Ability to clean, maintain and assist in repairing equipment.
- Ability to proficiently operate grader and skid steer preferred.
- Preferred Skills, High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Class A CDL or ability/willingness to obtain.
- Be able to walk and/or stand for extended time (up to an entire day s shift).
- Be able to comprehend, understand and follow policies, procedures and safety requirements.
- Assist with company snow removal operations.
