Job Requirements

Kenosha County is seeking a Lead Economic Support Specialist. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to make a direct impact on individuals and families in our community. As a key resource within the Economic Support team, you will use your expertise to guide colleagues, support complex casework, and ensure that clients receive timely, accurate access to essential public assistance programs. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys problem solving, mentoring others, and taking on leadership responsibilities while staying connected to day‑to‑day client service.

Responsibilities
  • Ensures cases are processed, opened, and closed timely and correctly.
  • Answers computer, eligibility, and policy questions from co‑workers.
  • Answers call center calls and completes interviews with clients.
  • Processes verifications and documents.
  • Mentors and trains new employees.
  • Reviews and discusses processes and task assignments for new employees.
  • Intakes and processes new applications for benefits.
  • Enters application information into CARES Worker Web and determines what verifications are needed.
  • Interview customers who need benefit renewals and reviews and updates all their case information.
  • Updates cases with the date paid and the payment type.
  • Works on daily task assignments which include team alerts, online renewals, online change reports, team emails, paper mail, and online documents.
  • Conducts dashboard monitoring and processing daily.
  • Completes state reports and attends local and state meetings as needed.
  • Collaborates with other leads in the Wisconsin‑Kenosha‑Racine Partnership Income Maintenance Consortium.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications

Experience:

  • At least 3 years as an Economic Support Specialist.
  • Customer Service experience.

Knowledge of:

  • CARES Worker Web, Forward Health, and Host on Demand Electronic case file.
  • KIDS information data system, Data exchange, Department of Health Services, and Department of Children and Families training Web Intelligence.
  • Web Access Management System, Income Maintenance training, and client scheduling system.
  • Local policies and procedures.
  • Office software programs and state computer systems.

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
