Overview
Carthage College is seeking a Career Specialist for Public Service & Social Impact to support students through a holistic advising model that integrates career development, experiential learning, and purpose-driven pathways. This role serves as a liaison to academic departments including Political Science, Criminal Justice, Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Environmental Science, Geospatial Science, International Political Economy, and Nursing, working closely with faculty and campus partners to support student success during and after Carthage.
Responsibilities- Advise students on career exploration, experiential learning, graduate/professional school, and post-graduate opportunities
- Support student engagement with the My Aspire Plan (MAP)
- Collaborate with faculty and campus partners to design career-related learning experiences
- Promote Aspire programming to prospective and current students
- Partner on internships and experiential learning opportunities
- Teach College Success Seminar (fall) and a January Term career course
- Leverage alumni and employer networks to enhance student experiences
- Bachelor s degree required;
Master s preferred - Experience in advising, teaching, counseling, or related fields preferred
- Strong communication and technology skills (career platforms a plus)
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centered work
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
