What You'll Do
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for assigned students.
  • Participate in IEP team meetings and collaborate with families, staff, and related service providers.
  • Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and teaching methods to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.
  • Deliver engaging instruction using evidence-based teaching strategies and assistive technologies.
  • Assess student progress through formal and informal evaluations and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Support students in inclusive classroom settings through collaboration with general education teachers.
  • Create a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment that promotes student success.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans and positive behavior support strategies as appropriate.
  • Supervise and collaborate with paraprofessionals and support staff as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate student records, progress reports, and required special education documentation.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, teachers, and administrators regarding student progress and needs.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school activities.
Qualifications Required Education & Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) teaching license with Special Education certification appropriate for the assignment.
  • Eligibility to work in Wisconsin schools and maintain all required state licensure requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working with students with disabilities in a school setting.
  • Experience developing and implementing IEPs.
  • Additional certifications or endorsements in related educational areas.
  • Familiarity with inclusive education practices and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Wisconsin special education regulations, and best practices.
  • Experience with IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and modify curriculum to meet diverse student needs.
  • Strong classroom management and behavior intervention skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and school personnel.
  • Proficiency with educational technology and electronic documentation systems.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and classroom mobility.
  • May be required to assist students with personal care and physical needs as outlined in their IEPs.
  • Ability to maintain emotional control and professional judgment in a fast-paced educational environment.
