The PositionThe Project Engineer will assist and support Project Managers (PMs) and other key stakeholders with day-to-day tasks such as bidding, scheduling, contracts, billing, and collections. The role includes, but is not limited to:
- Safety
- Software and applications (HCSS, financials, scheduling, etc.)
- Take-offs
- Bidding
- Building (grading, paving, milling, subcontractors)
- Scheduling
- Contracts and negotiation
- Billing and collection
- Specifications
- Beginning knowledge of mix designs, plants, and aggregate sites (manufacturing)
- General business operations (understands details of company operations)
In conjunction with other Project Engineers and PMs, the Engineer ensures that daily, weekly, and monthly tasks are addressed in a timely fashion, spends time with Operations, PMs, Scheduling, and receives exposure to Manufacturing and Technical Services. The Engineer also attends project meetings (pre-construction, pre-pave, scheduling, etc.) and performs related duties as required.
Requirements- Bachelor’s degree, vocational training, certification from an accredited organization, or a combination of schooling and relevant work experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, consulting, conflict management, and interpersonal/negotiation skills.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
- Prior transportation industry and logistics experience.
- Other relevant industry experience.
- Excellent client management and business literacy skills.
- Ability to develop trusting relationships to gain support and achieve results.
- Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities.
- Self‑directed and motivated.
- Takes initiative to identify and anticipate organizational needs and make recommendations for implementation.
