Job Summary

The Project Lead is the “voice of the customer” and responsible for the customer experience from the estimate to on-site delivery. To enhance “ease of doing business,” the role represents the customer’s voice in our facilities to ensure 100% customer satisfaction on ALL sales orders. The Project Lead drives all activities from the point of sale to on-site delivery, including coordinating with engineering, approval of submittals, scheduling with production and on-site delivery with the customer and transportation.

The Project Lead acts as the main point of contact for customers and vendors on assigned sales orders and is responsible for monitoring project costs and compliance with contract documents, attending job meetings, and balancing customer and internal interests throughout the process.

Job Location
  • This position will be located at our plant in Lombard, IL, Elgin, IL, Romeoville, IL, Kalamazoo, MI, or Kenosha, WI.
Job Responsibilities
  • Primary responsibility is being the “voice of the customer” in OI facilities.
  • Manage multiple sales orders concurrently.
  • Share responsibility with the O.S.R and Est. to hold a Turnover/Kick Off meeting at the point of sale to ensure all needed information and paperwork are complete; verify scope of work, review the estimate, confirm values for all items, and begin scheduling the project with production to align with the Customer Ship Date in AX.
  • From point of sales order assignment, serve as the main contact for the customer, keeping them updated from production schedule to on-site delivery.
  • Provide direction and oversight to the project team: engineering, production planning, transportation, procurement, and accounting.
  • Prepare applicable change order proposals in a timely manner, whether requested by owner/client/engineer or generated by OI.
  • Monitor progress and status from the point of sale, proactively problem solve, provide technical advice, assist other staff, and remove obstacles to prevent delays.
  • Foster continuous improvement of processes and systems.
  • Coordinate site visits as needed and work with the customer to resolve issues from sale to completion, including change orders, schedule adjustments, and information collection; identify and requisition special purchase items as required.
  • Manage required submittals/approvals with the customer.
  • Communicate with the Transportation department on initial delivery needs and follow up as required.
  • Collaborate with other project managers and the plant manager to manage long-term schedules and minimize conflicts with operational restrictions.
  • Estimate projects and obtain quotes for sales by bid dates.
  • Contact vendors for pricing as needed.
  • Work cross-functionally with sales, inside sales, operations, and management.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience;
    Civil Engineering preferred.
  • 3+ years of Project Management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple large to small, complex projects simultaneously.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to review production schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience with in the construction or precast concrete industry.
