Accountant, Financial Reporting, Tax Accountant

Matthias Academy is a nonprofit adult day program and residential opportunity located in Southeast Wisconsin, dedicated to supporting adults with mild to severe disabilities, specialized medical needs, behavioral challenges, and autism. Activities emphasize independence, recreation, and wellness, with a strong focus on achieving individual goals. Matthias fosters community involvement by welcoming participation from local schools, colleges, and the public.

This is a full-time hybrid position. The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial records, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and nonprofit regulations. Day-to-day responsibilities include tracking income and expenses, preparing financial statements, overseeing payroll, reconciling accounts, and assisting with audits. This role requires collaboration with internal teams to ensure financial transparency and adherence to organization goals.

• Proficiency in accounting practices, including budgeting, financial reporting, and bookkeeping
• Experience with payroll processing, account reconciliation, and preparing financial statements
• Familiarity with accounting software, spreadsheets, and financial management tools
• A strong understanding of nonprofit financial regulations and compliance is a plus
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial operations
• Effective communication and teamwork capabilities
• Minnimum of 2 years of education or experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is a plus
• Experience in nonprofit accounting or a similar environment is highly desirable
