Physical Therapist Lead Position Purpose
Evaluates patients and develops individual treatment programs in accordance with physicians’ prescriptions. Implements activities designed to treat patients with physical disabilities, disorders and injuries. Performs other related duties including employee and public education, new program development, attendance at staff meetings, participation in department committees, continuing education programs, and clinical supervision and instruction in affiliated education programs.
Minimum Education Required- Bachelors Degree in Physical Therapy
- 1 to 3 years
- Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
- Licensure to practice as a Physical Therapist in the State of Wisconsin.

- Evaluates patients and formulates treatment plans in coordination with physicians’ prescriptions.
- Follows established treatment plans to meet treatment goals.
- Proficiently utilizes equipment and skills to achieve prescribed goals and outcomes.
- Provides documentation of patient treatments including two‑week progress reports, monthly summaries, and discharge summaries.
- Performs patient/family teaching of home exercise programs.
- Coordinates and delegates care as appropriate to physical therapist assistants or licensed‑certified athletic trainers, assists in clinical supervision of assistants/ATCs, and provides clinical oversight to students.
- Contributes to the daily operations of the Physical Therapy Department through administrative responsibilities as assigned.
- Administers medications in a timely, safe manner in accordance with policy and procedure.
- Provides input in formulating the department budget, assists in evaluating department performance versus budget controls, and takes appropriate action to remain within budget guidelines.
- Ensures patient changes are accurate and entered on a timely basis.
- Participates in infection control, departmental equipment training, and organizational safety and fire safety programs.
- Assists in the selection, training, scheduling, and evaluation of department personnel.
- Responsible for department management and supervising staff.
- Performs administrative and budget‑related duties.
- Assists the director/manager with department responsibilities.
- Participates in performance improvement and performance‑improvement (PI) activities, and contributes to the PI program and department budget.
- Performs other duties as requested.
