What CNC Operators Do HereOur CNC Operators play a vital role in machining steel, aluminum, and other metals using CNC equipment. As a CNC Operator, you will:
- Design and develop CNC programs.
- Set up, check programs, and operate CNC machinery for high-tolerance machining.
- Arrange, mount, and secure tooling and fixtures.
- Set stops, calibrate fixturing, adjust tooling, and correct deviations from program specs.
- Recommend tooling applications and machining sequences.
- Diagnose operating issues and make adjustments as needed.
- Work from detailed blueprints, part drawings, and specifications.
- Use precision measuring tools to ensure accuracy.
- Review job orders and determine material needs.
- Inspect materials for imperfections and confirm parts meet quality requirements.
- Clean and maintain equipment daily.
- Follow all safety procedures and production standards.
- Perform minor preventative maintenance and coolant checks.
- Complete all required paperwork related to produced parts.
This role gives CNC Operators the opportunity to both operate and program equipment while supporting overall fabrication needs.
What We’re Looking For in CNC OperatorsCNC Operators with the following experience and abilities will succeed in this role:
- Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and bills of material.
- Knowledge of properties of various metals (training available).
- Skill operating and maintaining CNC/NC machinery (training available).
- Understanding of SPC is helpful.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to safe work practices.
- Three or more years of CNC operations experience
; one year of programming experience preferred
. - Related technical or programming training (high school or beyond).
- Forklift certification is a plus but not required.
