Join a growing, family-owned metal fabrication company in a key role responsible for preparing production-ready CAD files, supporting manufacturing operations, and maintaining accurate technical documentation. This position combines CAD support, drawing preparation, nesting optimization, and manufacturing support activities to help ensure efficient production and accurate manufacturing data. The role works closely with production personnel, quality personnel, vendors, and company leadership to support manufacturing readiness, process efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Utilizing CAD software and manufacturing tools, this position transforms customer drawings and part files into organized, production-ready information that supports fabrication, quality control, and shop-floor operations. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with company leadership and play a key role in supporting the growth of a modern, technology-driven fabrication business.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze part drawings and manufacturing requirements to optimize material utilization through nesting and support efficient manufacturing and fabrication processes.
  • Prepare and maintain production-ready CAD files and supporting documentation, including DXF cleanup, STEP file modifications, bend profile development, and manufacturing support documentation.
  • Prepare and organize quality and production documentation, including labeled PDF drawings and supporting records for First Article Inspection (FAI) and manufacturing operations.
  • Maintain accurate drawing records, revision history, and supporting documentation while communicating with customers, vendors, and internal personnel to clarify technical requirements and resolve drawing-related questions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to CAD processes, manufacturing efficiency, production readiness, and overall customer responsiveness.
Qualifications
  • Experience in metal fabrication, manufacturing, machining, laser cutting, or sheet metal environments
  • Experience preparing and modifying CAD files for manufacturing applications
  • Knowledge of DXF, STEP, and PDF drawing formats
  • Experience with nesting software and material utilization strategies
  • Knowledge of fabrication processes, including laser cutting, forming, welding, finishing, and assembly operations
