Electrical / Mechanical Assembler
Job Purpose:
This assembler position is an integral part of the electrical/mechanical production team. Primary responsibilities will include interrupting schematics, assembly drawings, and work instructions to complete the wiring on control panels.
Nature of Duties- Reads, interprets, and follows assembly drawings, diagrams, and schematics to determine component parts and assembly sequence.
- Exhibits excellent attention to detail.
- Performs a wide variety of electronic or electromechanical assembly operations on assemblies or sub‑assemblies, which may vary from sitting to standing, moving line to stationary, with very light to medium weight components.
- Follows all quality, environmental, health and safety specifications.
- Prepares all surfaces and components as necessary to ensure no damage occurs during assembly and testing.
- Uses hand and power tools to assemble units according to product specifications.
- Exhibits strong mechanical aptitude for use of tools in production operations.
- Shows basic problem‑solving and interpersonal skills.
- Performs builds using a connection list and schematic.
- Explains the criteria for cable drainage/service loops and damaged wire/hardware.
- Positions, aligns, and adjusts parts for proper fit and assembly.
- Inspects parts for imperfections and tests completed units.
- Identifies and reports any faulty components or hazards during the assembly process.
- Sets up and adjusts tolerances to blueprint specifications.
- Performs point‑to‑point wiring per work instruction, diagram schematics, short/continuity test, Hipot test, and inspects assembled parts to ensure functionality.
- Has stamina to stand for long periods, climb ladders, bend, grasp, sit, pull, push, stoop, and stretch.
- Assists assemblers in performing assembly tasks.
- May assist in electrical work.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the switch gear manufacturing environment.
- Effective written and spoken English communication skills.
- Proficiency in Google suite, MS Office or equivalent.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings.
- Ability to follow work instructions and procedures.
- Works consistently under safety regulations.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lb on an occasional basis.
- Available to work overtime as required based on business needs.
