Job Summary:

The Materials Lead provides area leadership and direct supervision while serving as the lead worker to Material Handling and Picking crew members on all shifts. In addition, the Lead may perform all material handling tasks. The Lead receives limited direction from Warehouse management, develops work plans by combining long-term company strategies with specific assignments, and resolves most problems independently. The Lead will develop training procedures, cross-training initiatives, and process improvement work plans by combining company strategies with specific assignments and resolving most problems independently.

The Lead will champion the REACH core values  Lead is responsible for the quality and quantity of all work in the material handling area for all shifts constantly monitoring and helping control labor and material costs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with other duties assigned as necessary:

With the direction of the Warehouse Operations Manager, the Lead will assign work to all department employees and plan workflow according to production capabilities and schedule.

Determines material handling procedures, sets up jobs and directs work according to production schedule.

Upholds work rules, assists, and counsels employees, and initiates disciplinary measures as needed.

Ensure team members are informed of day-to-day production expectations.

Monitors all work-in-progress and spot-checks completed jobs to ensure completeness and correctness.

Responsible for the training of handlers and pickers for products and processes within the department

Verifies completeness of part picks per bills of material for shipments to outside services.

Recommends and participates in continuous improvement initiatives.

Keeps team members informed about rules, regulations, policies, and objectives.

Interface with the planning department to determine schedules for shift production and material and labor constraints.

Resolves conflicts that arise among team members and/or other employees.

Identify and report non-conforming material to quality department on a daily basis, using proper company forms such as but not limited, MRR’s, scrap log forms, and ECR’s.Performs root cause analysis and resolve problems.

Monitor time and attendance and ensure compliance with Company attendance procedures.

Carry out incident and accident reporting in a timely matter.

Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected of them.

Ensures that the necessary equipment, tools, PPE, and supplies are available and in working order to complete assignments.

Lead department daily safety stretching and daily kick-off meetings

Ensure that equipment is in working order.

Prepare and present daily and weekly performance metrics (KPI’s).Cleans and maintains work area (daily), material handling equipment and other tools/equipment.

Works in a safe manner at all times, ensures that safety rules are followed without exception, and participates fully in any and all Company safety programs.

Ensures that all work is done in accordance with and adheres to IEA’s ISO and Quality standards.

Always ensures full adherence to 6S practices.

Support, comply and ensure complicity with Health & Safety regulations, the Company Handbook, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other Company policies and procedures.

Liaise and communicate with other departments and ensure an effective interface is maintained.

Undertake continuous training and development.

Other duties as requested by Management.

Physical Demands:

Maximum lifting requirement (pounds): 100 (infrequently), 50 (occasionally), 25 (frequently).Maximum moving requirement (pounds): 300 with assistance.

Maintaining physical condition is necessary for the following:
Frequent lifting, carrying, standing, sitting (operating forklift), walking, climbing, crouching, stooping, squatting, and twisting upper body.

Working at heights off the ground up to 20 feet.
