Position: Seasonal Golf Course Laborer 2026

The City of Kenosha is accepting applications for a golf course laborer to help with the daily operations of the Washington Park Municipal Golf Course located at 2205 Washington Rd. The course offers guests an 9-hole course, a clubhouse grille, outings & leagues. The golf course operates seven days a week during the season. Our mission is to provide an affordable, welcoming, and well-maintained municipal golf course that promotes recreation, community connection, and enjoyment of the game for players of all ages and abilities.

Schedule:

Approximately 20-40 hours per week, up to seven (7) days a week, including early mornings, afternoons, weekends, & holidays contingent on weather and operational needs (approximately April thru October/November).

Please note that City employees (including seasonal employees) may only be employed in one department/division at any one given time. This employment is strictly temporary ("at will") which may be terminated at any time and does not lead to permanent full-time employment.

Under the direction of the Field Supervisor, and daily direction of the golf course Lead worker, the laborer is responsible to perform various golf course maintenance related tasks in a safe, efficient and courteous manner.

  • Mow greens, tees and fairways
  • Mow rough and out-of-play areas with appropriate turf equipment
  • Maintain sand bunkers
  • Change cups as needed
  • Maintain trees, shrubs and flowers
  • Inspect and ensure safety equipment is maintained in proper working condition
  • Maintain cleanliness of facilities and surrounding areas
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance
  • Attend mandatory training sessions as required
  • Follow and enforce all policies, procedures, and operational guidelines established by the Department
  • Perform other related duties as required directly to the Field Supervisor and/or Golf Course Lead Worker on a daily basis for obtaining orders and instructions
  • Ensures regular and correct maintenance is performed on and around golf course grounds, buildings, and facilities
Education/Experience/Training
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must successfully pass a post-offer drug screening
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check
  • Possession of and ability to maintain a valid driver's license
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience working on a golf course
Knowledge, Abilities & Skills
  • General knowledge of tools, equipment and vehicles
  • General knowledge of turf management practices related to golf course grounds
  • Ability to operate to tools, equipment and vehicles
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations in a calm, efficient and responsible manner
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Effective communication skills and ability to exercise sound judgment, courtesy, and respect
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with supervisors, employees, and the public
  • Ability to work the required schedule and hours
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods as needed
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Sensory Requirements
  • Ability to see clearly to monitor course conditions, read instructions, and observe safety conditions
  • Ability to hear and respond to verbal instructions, alarms, and public inquiries
  • Ability to use touch and manual dexterity to handle equipment and perform maintenance tasks
  • Ability to perceive environmental conditions, including weather, safety hazards, and respond appropriately
