National Sales Manager Position Overview

Our customer is seeking a self-motivated Account Manager / Outside Sales professional to develop and support sales activity across assigned accounts and markets. The role combines technical sales, product application, customer development, and account management, with a focus on directional control valves and related fluid power components and systems.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop and support sales activity at all assigned accounts and markets.
  • Provide technical and product support at all assigned accounts and markets, including the application of directional control valves and related fluid power solutions.
  • Retain and maintain existing business at assigned accounts and markets.
  • Identify new market opportunities through the distribution network and direct sales that align with our customer's goals.
  • Maintain timely communication with the Customer Service and Production Planning groups concerning current and future customer requirements.
  • Develop and maintain quality relationships with customers, internal departments, and our customer's group contacts.
  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Primary Duties
  • Work with the National Sales Manager to formulate sales plans.
  • Ensure that all information concerning customers and markets is communicated to critical departments.
  • Apply our customer's products at the customer level in support of component and system applications.
  • Build and maintain customer profiles for all existing and potential key accounts.
  • Maintain timely contact with all key personnel at assigned accounts and prepare the following reports:
  • Quarterly sales and market reports for assigned accounts.
  • Quarterly distributor performance reports for each distributor in the assigned area.
  • Call reports documenting all critical information obtained during customer calls.
  • Weekly itinerary reports covering firm and planned activities.
  • Conduct product training at customer locations and educate personnel on our customer's marketing efforts, including web initiatives and trade shows.
  • Communicate effectively with all departments within our customer's organization.
  • Support the development and implementation of plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify new product needs and coordinate them through the National Sales Manager.
  • Actively participate in trade shows and lead follow-up activities, and assist with meetings, seminars, schools, and other events.
  • Promote safety, practice safe work habits, and comply with safety policies at all times.
  • Complete assigned tasks and reports in a timely manner and actively participate in departmental meetings.
  • Maintain a friendly, service-oriented philosophy with co-workers, other departments, and customers.
  • Practice and promote good housekeeping measures and support all company efforts to comply with OSHA and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of computer software and upgrades through company-provided training or continuing education.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, or relevant specialized industry-related training.
  • Strong sales background highly preferred.
  • Willingness to participate in on the job engineering training program.
  • Fluid Power Specialist or Hydraulic Specialist certification preferred.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and a strong command of the English language.
