Job Overview
Mobile Diesel Technician Level II – responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light repairs, diagnostics, and other service duties across light to heavy‑duty vehicles.
Key Responsibilities- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on mobile vehicles.
- Make minor adjustments and repairs to truck components such as electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck systems using test instruments, handheld computers, and pressure gauges.
- Road‑test vehicles to ensure proper functionality.
- Inspect, test, and listen for malfunction signals, generating accurate diagnostic reports.
- Manage parts inventory and equipment on company‑issued service truck, including periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate the service vehicle, performing safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
- Communicate effectively with clients and customers to assess needs and resolve issues.
- Prioritize tasks and schedule work independently.
- Utilize hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document all work, upload photos, parts, and findings on Repair Orders via TRAIT app.
- Complete DOT forms and other required documentation promptly.
- Adhere to safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
- High School Diploma or GED, with at least 3 years of related experience (alternative: degree/certification beyond HS and 5 years of experience).
- Must possess and supply set of hand tools required for duties.
- Must obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months of hire.
- Must pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical; may submit valid DOT medical card if more than 4 months remain.
- Must be 21 years or older and hold a valid state driver’s license; maintain Driver Qualification File.

- Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, walk for long periods and perform moderate heavy labor.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey information succinctly.
- Effective two‑way communication with individuals and groups.
- Capability to determine appropriate tools and equipment for tasks.
- Accurate visual judgment of distances and spatial relationships.
- Logical and reasoned problem‑solving, evaluating alternatives and decisions.
