Shop Mechanic

Trailer/Tractor Mechanic

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers.
• Perform annual and systematic 90‑day inspections of trailers as required.
• Ensure equipment meets Federal FHWA standards.
• Operate a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and shop as needed.
• Identify parts and supplies needed for maintenance and repair.
• Adhere to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and maintained to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety.
• Operate welding equipment as necessary.

Required Skills & Abilities:

• At least 1 year of experience in general knowledge of equipment theory, principles, and repair related to diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• At least 1 year of experience in tractor and trailer maintenance, including DOT rules and regulations and company policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent vocational schooling (preferred but not required).
• Dynamic, ambitious, and engaged team player.
