Job Summary

The Office of Research at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) supports life‑saving biomedical research. The Enterprise Application Developer II role directly supports a major research application used by most research teams. Working under limited supervision, the developer designs, develops, tests, integrates, deploys, and maintains complex research software applications. The position is fully remote and requires residence in a state licensed by MCW payroll.

Primary

Responsibilities
  • Design, analyze, code, test, debug, modify, and document moderately complex applications with minimal supervision.
  • Mentor and coach development staff, ensuring adherence to established standards and best practices.
  • Contribute to development standards, guidelines, and process improvement cycles.
  • Serve as a technical leader and point of contact for the development team.
  • Convert concepts into solutions by preparing detailed specifications aligned with the IS development methodology.
  • Analyze, design, and modify existing business applications and processes; recommend system and process improvements.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems in the maintenance and support of business applications.
  • Manage multiple requests in a complex product and business environment while maintaining focus on priority tasks.
  • Collaborate with business and management teams to develop efficient plans, processes, timelines, and work required for support and upgrade activities.
  • Partner with end‑users and technical staff to diagnose and resolve business process problems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible development experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem‑solving, and attention to detail.
  • Experience with business process management software (development, validation, testing of workflow progressions).
  • Ability to convert concepts and ideas into finished solutions in collaboration with business users.
  • Project management skills in a full‑lifecycle environment.
  • Understanding of and some experience with web services.
  • Experience with SSRS reporting services and pulling data from multiple databases (e.g., SQL Server, Workday) into dashboards or reports.
  • Prior experience with software configuration management systems, bug‑tracking systems, and business object frameworks.
  • Experience working in a SaaS environment is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Customer support, systems analysis, troubleshooting, and listening skills.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (any field).
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
  • Preferred:
    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related area.
  • Preferred:
    Familiarity with testing or development in business process management software environments.
Physical Requirements

Occasional lifting of moderate weight, standing, or walking continuously. Exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids may occur. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment.

Salary

The target salary range for this position is $81,100–$103,300 annually. Final offer will depend on education, experience, skills, knowledge, and internal equity considerations.
